御存知！The Allman Brothers Band 名作1st「The Allman Brothers Band」 Mobile Fidelity社SACD盤未開封新品でございます。
現在の主流たる情報量重視のフラットマスタリング方式の先駆けで知られるMobile Fidelity社御馴染みのSACD盤でございますが、アナログ盤を意識した感のある非常に良心的な高音質でございます。
そもそもアナログにせよ、CDにせよ、ハイレゾにせよ、SACDにせよ、一番重要な事はマスターテープの再現でございます。
「アナログ盤が一番マスターテープを再現していたのでは？」との指摘がオーディオファンから挙がり、
故George Marino等の嘗ての名マスタリングエンジニアが手掛けた昔のアナログ盤が高値で取引される昨今でございます。
但し、こちらにはスクラッチノイズはございませんが..........................................................
ラインアップは全盛期第一期、Greg Allman(Key、Vo)、Duane Allman(G)、Dickey Betts(G)、Berry Oakley(B、Vo)、Butch Trucks(Ds、Per)、Jai Johanny Johnson(Ds、Conga)となります。
１９６９年８月３～１２日アメリカ・ニューヨーク”Atlantic Studio”での制作となります。
ツインドラムでツインギターという異色感のある編成で”サザン・ロック”カテゴリー扱いされるバンドではございますが、ジャンル特有の音楽性の緩さや曖昧さがないバンドでございます。
(音楽性は異なりますが、かのZZ TOPも同じでございます.........................)
演奏主体でございますが、三分程度の原曲を演奏・アンサンブルの自由さや個性・巧みさで拡大していく感のある音楽性。
但し、アメリカ南部特有のブルーズ系、スワンプ系の影響があれどジャズ系統(後のハード・フュージョン系にも繋がる)音楽性の影響や
明らかにBritish Rock系のCreamやTraffic等の影響が強い事が音楽性や演奏・アンサンブルを引き締めている感がございます。
前述のCreamやTraffic等がライヴで体現した音楽性のアメリカ解釈とも言える音楽性で、似た様な時期に登場したかの”Santana”とも共通する感がございます.........
但し、混然一体とした音楽性で未洗練の感があり、演奏・アンサンブルの巧みさや纏まりがあれど、楽曲としては通受け感が強いものでございます。
また”Santana”感が感じられる所が良くもあり、二番煎じ感もありというのが玉に瑕。
ライヴだと明らかに長尺化する楽曲ではございますがスタジオ制作という事で短く纏める事となり、その纏め具合が後の”At Filmore East”のヴァージョンに軍配を上げる事となる感がございます.......................................
残念ながらチャート的には惨敗でございましたが、ツアーでの楽曲の長尺化を含めた演奏・アンサンブルの巧みさが好評を呼び、次作では名プロデューサーTom Dowdが制作に乗り出し音楽性の纏まりに尽力。
成功の土台を築き、3rdでは好評に次ぐ好評であったライヴを基に(ファン待望であった)かの大傑作ライヴ盤”At Filmore East”を制作と成功の階段を駆け上がっていく事となります...........................
録音は(低予算もあるのでしょうが......)正直ライヴ感重視。幾分デモ感がございます。
「六十年代のライヴ録音に良いものはない」との指摘がございますが、録音時期は１９６９年という境界線の時代。
ステレオ録音が完全に主流となり録音方法も大幅に進化、大幅な音質の向上が見られる時代ございます。
結構自然な録音感があり、またツインドラム等の録音具合が興味深い事からもMobile Fidelity社の音源選択で選ばれた感がございます..........................................................
現在では入手が非常に困難の模様。この機会に是非。
